I Love Monte Vista
February 14, 2016
If you missed this last year, maybe you heard the buzz. There were rave reviews about the venue and the hosts. Now you have another chance: so don’t miss it! Do come. Gather with your friends and neighbors. Bring your dues check along with a sweet dish and a bottle of Champagne, Prosecco or wine to share.
The I Love Monte Vista party is being hosted again this year by Leith and Richard Negley in their home, the historic Charles Baumberger Jr. house, at 325 W. Lynwood. Mr. Baumberger was a lifetime resident of San Antonio and a former president of The San Antonio Portland Cement Company, which most people know today as “The Quarry.” Charles Baumberger died childless and stipulated in his will that the income from his fortune be devoted to the education of Texas youth in the arts and sciences, thereby establishing the Baumberger Endowment. Since 1979 the endowment has awarded 2,900 scholarships totaling over 40-million dollars. Mr. Baumberger not only left a lovely home in our historic neighborhood, but also a very generous and loving legacy for the community and Texas youth. This year’s MVHA membership party will feature two former Baumberger Scholarship recipients and their artistic works. Come meet the artists, and tour the unique Mediterranean-style home designed by Adams and Adams.
MVHA’s Valentine party is the highlight of the annual membership drive. Yes, it is time again to renew your membership, if you haven’t already done so. Or if you have held out in joining, now is the time. Dues for one year are $30 per household. Five-year memberships are $120. Lifetime memberships are $450, and Lifetime Sponsor memberships are $1,000. A 2016 Membership Form is on the back of this newsletter. Renewing members may send a check or pay on-line with Pay Pal without filling in the form; however, we encourage you to use the form to update your contact information, volunteer for committees or sponsor an event. You may also bring your check to the party.
Current news and events are announced through email, so please provide your e-mail address to MVHA. You may also opt out of providing your email, in which case you will not receive the informational blasts.
