welcome home

Founded in the late 19th century, the Monte Vista neighborhood has been a home to thousands of residents over the decades and continues to be a beacon of architectural pride for the city.

The Monte Vista Historical Association (MVHA), founded in 1973, provides education, assistance, and a forum for your voice to be heard as it relates to your home, street, business, or neighborhood.

Our Mission Statement: “To encourage the preservation of the distinctive heritage of the Monte Vista area; to keep the physical identity of this late nineteenth-century district intact; to educate the public, especially the youth, with the knowledge of our inherited neighborhood values which contribute to a wholesome urban environment.”

The Monte Vista Historical Association has since its inception held community and educational events, including many biennial Home Tours, third Thursday socials and holiday events. We encourage you to check out our calendar to see everything we do.

Monte Vista has proudly stood as a shining example of successful mixed land-use and historic preservation for over 100 years. Our historic gates, quaint fixtures and gorgeous tree-lined streets provide a solitude from the hustle and bustle of every day city life.

The MVHA is working on the next 100-year chapter of our neighborhood’s rich history as we continue to focus on what is most important: family, friends, and neighbors. We continue to provide valuable education and support all in the name of historic preservation.

An Inviting Escape
