Originally an outreach group from St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in downtown San Antonio, Christ Episcopal Church held its first services on October 6, 1907. Now celebrating its Centennial, Christ Church has grown to become San Antonio’s largest Episcopal church. Construction of the beautiful English Gothic sanctuary of Christ Church began in 1913. Atlee Ayers served as architect after winning in a design competition. Hallmarks of Christ Church sanctuary are its 50 beautiful stained glass windows and its 55-rank Sipe pipe organ. Also located on the Christ Church campus is the Carriage House, built in 1908.
